Yongqi Lou is the President of Shanghai University of Engineering Science, the Director of SustainX Design Research Centre at Tongji University and the Chair of the China National Graduate Education Steering Committee for Design. He has been the chief curator of the World Design Cities Conference (WDCC), Shanghai Industrial Museum and the China pavilion of the 24th International Exhibition of Triennale in Milan. He is the founding Co-Editor-in-Chief of She Ji: The Journal of Design, Innovation, and Economics, an editorial board member of Design Issues. Lou has served on various boards, including FDP, CUMLUS, ICSID/WDO, DESIS, and Angewandte Vienna. He is the author of the latest entry on Design of the Enciclopedia Italiana di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, in its XI Appendice in 2024. In 2019, Lou was elected as a fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA). In 2023, he received an honorary doctorate from the Royal College of Art.
